If you want information on OSU admissions, application forms that you can download and print, or if you want to apply to OSU online, please visit the OSU Undergraduate website. Listed below are some suggestions regarding academic admission to the university:

Applying to the School of Music

Students planning to pursue any music degree program must complete the following:

  1. an application form
  2. an audition
  3. the Music Achievement Test, a theory placement test.

The School of Music audition process is designed to evaluate a student's preparedness to pursue music at the college level and prospects for future development. It is not designed to be a formal presentation, such as a contest or recital.

There is no separate audition for music scholarships. Each student who auditions for entrance to the School of Music may be considered for music scholarships. See the section on Scholarships and Financial Aid.

See the Application Dates page for deadlines on consideration for performance scholarships.

Housing Options

A word about undergraduate housing: you might want to consider the Visual and Performing Arts Living & Learning Program housed in Baker Hall West. The west wing of Baker Hall, a five-minute walk from the School of Music, is reserved for OSU students who are majoring in—or very active in—the visual and performing arts. Baker West has practice rooms, a 100-seat auditorium, and is filled with students who share your interests. A very high percentage of students choose to return to Baker West year after year, and this means that it is getting a bit more competitive to get in. If you're interested in learning more, please visit their website if you have questions, you can contact . Once you have paid your university acceptance fee (or by late April, if you paid early), you should receive housing information from OSU; housing in Baker West is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so it would be wise to send in your request for Baker West early.
