Brass students are guided through a rigorous course of study in technique, performance practice and repertoire development. They are challenged to participate in various small ensembles, including studio choirs and quartets, as well as in the school's large performing ensembles—Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra. The renowned OSU Marching Band also provides musical and leadership opportunities for students seeking this unique challenge.
The brass faculty members at The Ohio State University maintain active performance careers. They are members of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Opera Columbus, Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony and other performing organizations.
Graduates of the brass program have embarked upon exciting endeavors in all parts of the country. They are teaching in colleges and universities and performing in major ensembles. Those who have earned graduate degrees from OSU have applied their experiences as graduate teaching associates to the demands of the job world in building successful careers.
