Jack & Zoe Johnstone
Spurred by a desire to stimulate the long-term health and vitality of the woodwind area in the School of Music, Jack (Ph.D., 1984) and Zoe Johnstone of Columbus, Ohio, have worked with faculty to develop an annual event focusing on a different woodwind instrument each year. The result was the Johnstone Woodwind Master Series which Jack and Zoe are supporting for the first five years independently of the $50,000 endowment they created for the future of the series. This annual event will enhance the School of Music’s curriculum by bringing eminent teachers and performers to campus; highlighting newly commissioned works by recognized composers; encouraging and performing student compositions for woodwinds; and recognizing the work of an Ohio woodwind music teacher with an award. Along the way, we will seek to involve other donors in unique aspects of the event for each year.
For further information contact Robert Sorton, professor of oboe at (614) 292-4620 or email sorton.1@osu.edu.
All events are free and open to the public.
