The Johnstone Woodwind Master Series is an annual event focusing on a different woodwind instrument each year. This year it will be held in conjunction with the COFA (Central Ohio Flute Association) Flute Festival, April 19-22, 2007 at the School of Music, The Ohio State University. All events are free with the exception of the Saturday Flute Festival
The Johnstone Woodwind Master Series was established to recognize and celebrate the exemplary work of the woodwind faculty at The Ohio State University. It brings eminent teacher/performers to the OSU School of Music and:
The 2006-07 installment focuses on the flute and brings the respected teachers, lecturers and performers Robert Aitken, Peter Lloyd and Chris Norman to campus to teach and perform. Pieces to be premiered include Sunshine of Saint Eulalie for the OSU Flute Troupe by Chris Norman and a trio by Stephen Paulus for Cosmos, Katherine Borst Jones, flute, Mary Harris, viola and Jeanne Norton, harp.
The second Zoe and Jack Johnstone Woodwind Master Series at the OSU School of Music in conjunction with the Central Ohio Flute Association will present Robert Aitken and Peter Lloyd, guest artists in master classes, recitals and lectures. A newly commissioned piece for flute, viola and harp by Stephen Paulus, will be performed by Katherine Borst Jones and COSMOS. The commissioned piece, Sunshine of Saint Eulalie by Chris Norman, will be premiered by the OSU Flute Troupe.

Flute composition competition for OSU student composers
Recital by Robert Aitken (1:30), master class by Peter Lloyd (2:30), competitions, flute choir concert, exhibits of flutes and flute related merchandise. Chris Norman will present a 45-minute solo-concert (8 pm) that will flow right into a session of traditional Irish, English & Scots tunes. Music will be provided so flutists may play right along.
Saturday Admission: Adults $20 , Students $10, Senior Citizens $5, OSU Students/Faculty free with BuckID, Parents accompanying a student $5
